Picked up 4-dimes boxes the other day (Thursday). First three boxes produced very little, as: 0,3,0 Rosies. Started on the fourth box, on the third roll in, started to see three very dark dull gray smooth rims. I figured right then and there that these are not Rosies, but most likely mercs. Pulling them out, yep, Mercs. A few rolls later, another 3 mercs just like the others. Three rolls later, a fantastic roll of 6-mercs, same color texture & smooth rims ( see 1st pic ). They kept coming here & there, along with a few Rosies and 1-Can. Half way thru the box I started to dream again of that 98-silver box (65-mercs, 33-Rosies) that I caught back in January of 2017. Could this be a repeat? Turned out, the numbers fell short. A total of 21-mercs, 4-Rosies, 1-Can., for 26-silvers out of one box. For sure these mercs had come out of someone's coffee can collection, and not from some folder or rolls. They were all a little oily to the touch, of which by just holding them in a white napkin, a lot of the dirty grease came off.
It's been a little while since a box like this hit my stack. However, as you can see from the date list, most were in the 1940-45 range.
I couldn't believe a hit like this, but it's TRUE. Enjoy the pics, HH DozerD

The five on the left are the 1-Can, 4-Rosies. Notice how smooth & ugly gray the mercs are, a sure give-a-way.
