Metal bird

I found this while metal detecting a piece of land that used to have a house on it during the mid-late 1800's. I found it alongside a 1868 Indian head penny and a metal milk can label dislaying the name of the landowner who lived there in the late 1800's, so it must be pretty old. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!
