I would like to start a thread where we all chip in on a technique that work well for us. Let's try to keep them short.

Here is an example;

When detecting a tot lot, turn down your sensitivity temporarily as you approach metal poles and under swingsets. This lets you get closer to those large metal objects and possibly find some shallow targets that others might have missed.

When hunting fields find the Iron Patch! (I don't mean me though, cuz if I'm there you ain't gonna be finding much) ;D

Reverse discrimination when hunting for deep targets. :headbang:

I find many coins at the edges of walkways, since this is most traffic when a coins falls it may roll to the grass edges and out of site.

One thing I liked about my old Tesoro Golden Sabre was that I could make a mark at the pop tab and pop ring setting and turn the discrimination knob through those when I got a signal. A great time saver.
