Vacation Information Needed:

My Girlfriend and I are Thinking about heading to the Treasure Coast, Florida In November.
We Both enjoy the Hobby of Metal Detecting and saw the Story on the Travel Channel about People Hunting on the beaches of Treasure Coast, Florida for Spanish Treasures that have washed up on the beaches from Shipwrecks in the early 1700's. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has actually been to Treasure Coast, Florida and done some Metal Detecting On the Beaches. Information to include: Any Finds, Do's and Dont's of Where allowed to Search for Lost Treasure, Best Locations to Search For Treasures and any other information that I may need while Metal Detecting on the Beaches, not only to increase my chances of finding something but also be respectful to the Florida Laws, Locals and Other Vacationers.
Thanks In Advance For All Info,
Guy and Claudia

Guy and Claudia,

The conditions for finding treasure along the Treasure coast are not good right now. The beaches are pretty much sanded in, and most of the best beaches have recently been 'renourished' - which means any treasures are under 4 to 12 feet of sand.

You can read about this and the daily conditions on the Treasure Coast at http://treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com/

Right now, if you want to go somewhere where your chances of finding jewelry and other valuables are high, go to where the people who wear jewelry to the beach are - and that's South Beach in Miami.

Bill (who's spent too many days hunting for treasure on the treasure coast)

GuerillaBill, is halfway right, S. Beach can be a great place to make good finds. But here to is Very sanded in and tourist season ended when the kids went back to school making finds extremely scarce.

Thanks finderzzs for the reply. We have decided to come and stay at Cocoa Beach and then just Drive/Detect to the South on A1A for a couple of days during the first week of November. We need to get out of (Dodge) Houston/Galveston area for awhile. We may not find any Gold Spanish Coins but I know we will have fun with the Hunt and whatever we find. Seeing The White Sand and Ocean Water that you can actually see your feet in, will be a real pleasure.
Thanks Again, Guy
