i have a discovery 2000 md and would like to buy a better one but can only spend about $300 any sugestions i live in passaic county nj

YUP! Go with the Prizm II you won't be sorry. I have a Prizm III (About $300 out the door) and it rocks ! You can get a II for about $200.

You might want to consider the Ace 250 , about $200.00 . You could use the extra $100.00 for accessories . Pinpointer , digging tool ect . I personally don't know but most people on here thinks the 250 rocks . I just bought a 250 for my wife off e-bay . Brand new with warranty , headphones , rechargeable batteries and battery charger for $189.00 . Because of the weather we haven't had a chance to take it hunting yet . Good luck with whatever you decide on .

I have to agree with the Ace250 being one heck of a starter unit. It does the job of many of the more expensive machines. I have dug dimes, and a silver and opal pendant at 8 or 9 inches with the stock coil, but that would depend on the soil type and mineralization of course. I just dont think you can get more bang for the buck.

Wow I just bought an ACE 250 this morning.. Can't wait to get it and give it a whirl.. I was so torn on which to buy for our first detector. Now i'm not as concerned.. Thanks
