Greetings! Can you help me solve this mystery? This is a metal plate that appears to be aluminum. Found not to far from an old home site but very shallow not even an inch down. I don't think its modern but I could be wrong.
The two top side holes are for the screws to hold it in place. There is also a small screw or nail hole in the top center as well. There are no markings noted. It seems a bit too ornate to be modern, but I am clueless as to what it is. Looks like possibly a guard or shield for something, but I'm not sure why it has the five "lobes". The lobes are about the size and depth of a breakfast sausage. Thanks again!
Hi there and thanks for the ideas. I don't see any wear on the edges for the dustpan idea, but it is indeed a possibility. The soap dish is a great thought also! Thanks for sharing the image as well, that seems to be what it is. This one is very thin and without drain holes, but it is the only idea that fits. Also, it does not appear bent as it is perfectly flat where the image posted by vhs7 is curved, while the grooves are still curved within each. I think that will be the decision for now as it makes sense! Love this site and all your feedback, thank you...
