I suggest that you get a porcelain tile. Then rub the specimen on the back of the tile. Rub once or twice only. Blow away any dust. Look for a mark which is coloured (orange, red, brown, or black). A meteorite will give only a very weak dirty mark, or nothing at all. This is not a conclusive test, because there are other rocks which will not produce a coloured mark. But it may help to eliminate the possibility of a meteorite.]
