Found on the norris mt end of the madison river. Along the cliff between two huge chunks of granite.

I'm thinking it's a type of schist?. If your interested in geology, these Roadside Geology books are a great reference to the formations around you. I have one for Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. I had the one for Montana, but I left it on the floor and our new puppy took a dump on it and I tossed it in the trash.
