MICA WINDOW HOLDERS???

Found these about 20 feet from each other. There are no markings on them. The small round pieces slide in and out of the inside holes. The small pieces have what I believe are traces of mica still attached to them on both sides (the shiny looking stuff). I know some old stoves/lanters used to use mica instead of glass as a window. Any other ideas as to what thes might have been used for?
