So, my microscope showed up today, (https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Mic...ification/dp/B00XNYXQHE/?tag=treasurenet01-20) soooooooo excited. Did find this cent in my last bag, looks like damage, but wasn't sure, possibly something at the mint, as there doesn't seem to be damage around it?

Love the little details I can see now. Will definitely have a new appreciation for the 2009 cents! Best of luck hunting everyone!

Don't think you'd have to have one to find errors, but figured this would save my eyes looking for some of the DDO's or those double D/ghost D types. And, I think its amazing to see the detail of the coins, and can use it on more than just coins...

I think you found something to think about with that cent

I have two of the inexpensive microscopes, one with the fixed frame and the other with the flexible positioning. My hands shake, so I'm not good with pictures - they blur. But with the microscopes I can manage to get pretty clear pictures to post here, and for my own records. Sometimes I have to mount the scope in elevation to capture the picture I want. The negative of the fixed mount is I can't do that. So, it's for something extremely small - or it's for serious close ups.

I purchased both some years ago, they work great, and were fairly inexpensive.

So, there's no harm done having both.

what you are seeing on this coin is post mint damage - took a hit on the 1 and moved the metal over.

I have a stero microscope I use to check coins all the time. I also use it to carefully clean coins of interest

Coin in question for sure has post mint damage. It was not damaged at the mint

Agree with others, definitely post mint hit that caused that damage. I use my microscope for verification purposes. I search using a 30x loupe then when I come across something interesting I throw it under the scope to get the details of what I believe I found. Definitely helps with RPMS, DDOs and DDRs. Also doesn't hurt that the scope allows you to take nice close ups
