Dug this up today, about 9" deep. Obviously, trying to identify what this is would be difficult as it seems to be a fragment of a larger object.
What I want to know, though, is what metal is it- could it be gold? I was thinking brass but it doesn't have typical brass hues and it's definitely too yellow for copper. What really got me thinking is the back side. As you can see in the photo, it's really yellow and man it just dazzles, with or without the camera flash!
Any estimates on age also appreciated.
