Went out this morning with my mding buddy in hopes that recent Nor'easter would have left a nice cut at our local beaches. Unfortunately the complete opposite was true. No cut whatsoever just sanded in beach. As a result we decided to check out an older area of beach that we had been meaning to try our Equinoxes on. Well, we weren't disappointed. Walked away with some clad, (2) Silver Washingtons and what I think is my first Spanish Silver in the form of a 1/2 Reale. Its worn pretty good so I can not get a date and was hoping that someone on here can help confirm if it looks to be a 1/2 Reale or not. Pics are below and I took a couple of up close pics of the Reale next to a dime for comparison.

nice old silver! It's not a half reale, it's a half real.

Thank you Claire. If you haven't already, you'll find yours soon! :)

C IIII 1/2R is 18mm in diameter; 1R is 20 mm in diameter.
Will date between 1790 and 1808.
Great save !
Don....

Its slightly smaller than a dime which probably puts it closer to 17mm; but, this was found buried on a beach so I pretty sure I can attribute a 1mm loss to the wear and tear of being in a beach environment for over 200 years.

Thanks for the info Don!
