Might need to change this Field to 'Fibula Land'...

Bet you couldn't guess where I was today ::) Spent most of the day in the rain, 6.5 hours, Dad braved it for 4 hours.
Never dug so many Fibula (brooches) in one day :o Some in really nice condition, sometimes heavy clay is friendly (plough proof) :)
Surprises were a rare type of 'claw foot' Saxon Stirrup Terminal, Celtic Bronze Unit, & a mystery 'crescent' hook thingy (looks Celtic) :icon_scratch:

0 buttons :laughing9:
39 Roman Bronze Coin
1 debased Roman Silver
Victorian Horse Boss (Rosette)
Roman Key Ring piece
Bronze Bead
Other Roman bits...

What an outstanding weekend, apart from that dodge Bloke who gridded with me for less than 1 hour & picked up the best silver :tongue3: :D

If it was on Timeteam, it would be the site of a fibula factory :laughing9: Seriously the story is far from over, its a big site & we may have only done 60% of the main area. The areas of activity moved over time, an area of 1st-2nd Century stuff, then an area of 3-4th century. Nearly had too much pottery & lead to be able to bend down.

That's plain crazy, no way can you get through the spot without scoring a silver or better. :icon_thumright:

Unless I find a silver or gold one, I can get as many as I like without reporting them.

Its early days, but I have a theory I'm trying to prove, & the Horse & Rider helps
