I found this late last year. In the same area I found random items including a military button and a 1907 Barber dime. With all the random mix of old and new items in the ground, I think that the area is filled with dirt from somewhere else.

I know that it is possibly a military buckle or at least a military themed item and the symbol is the Transportation Corps. What I am not sure of, is the age or if it actually was issued by the government at one point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thats the US Army Transportation insignia

Edit-- ok, I'll read first, respond later

A picture of the back would give a better idea.

That style of buckle has been around since at least WW2. My dad had that style in the navy in Vietnam also.

I recently retired from the Army after 20 years and I know that we used a similar buckle, but they were plain with nothing on the front. What perplexes me is that we didn't have our branch on our buckles and I am not sure if this was ever something on Army dress buckles once upon a time.

The back of the buckle does not have any information on it at all.

The Transportation Corp was created in 1942, so it couldn't be older than that. Some do have the date stamped on the back, along with US. I believe buckles, other than plain, we're private purchase items, rather than issued.
Edit -- ok, this time I was typing while you were updating

I have to agree with you that it wasn't military issue. I didn't know about the date when the Corp was created. Thanks for the information.
