Hello all,

Went sifting this morning and came back with more buttons but never found one like this. It looks military design with two people standing next to a shield with possibly crossed cannons on it. There is a perched eagle standing on the shield and around the outside ring of the button has olive branch/leaves? and a star at center on top.
anyone have any info on what this button is?

thanks
Funkman

I recognize it due what looks like a windmill in the shield. It is a New York City Seal button. Yours is shown as button NY-101 in the book "Record Of American Uniform And Historical Buttons" by Alphaeus H. Albert. Yours dates from the 1890s into the early 1900s.
