minelab quatrro

I had one and didn't care for it. The recovery speed is very slow. If you are hunting areas of very little trash then you may be ok. I have an Explorer XS which they say has a slow recovery speed but it's fast as lightning compared to the Quattro. JMO.

Probably the worst reject of a detector Minelab has come out with in the last ten years. I've seen more for sale than people using them and posting finds. Seems they can get by on the beach, but not so good on land. With used explorers going as low as they do now they are a much better choice.

i personally like mine but id trade it for an explorer or a safari in a heartbeat

If it works for you that's all that counts, but like you say it's good to keep an open mind. I'd still try something I thought would give me an edge, but the more attempts I make, the less faith I have anything is better for me than an Explorer II. Of course it's not really a bad thing to be happy and not spend more money.

Yes if you like what you have save your money by not jumping from one detector to another that is the big problem with some. Somebody will say this is the best detector ever and then they see that and say i have to have that and run out and buy one. Next week that same person will say i like this detector better i detected out hunted out places and found a dime so some one runs out and buys that detector... $700.00 give or take to find a dime and the detector they have will do the same thing...............

The Quattro is a pretty decent machine. Yes its recovery rate is slow. But its depth is good and its a great coin machine and good silver machine too. Gold is another story.

Hey all, well I did use a Quattro two seasons ago with some success even with the slow recovery. Sure it took forever to cover any amount of ground at all but I got there lol. The detector was rather heavy and thats not to bad, but you needed to go so slow it got hard to swing for long hunts. My next issue was the pinpointe function that was about unusable, and to me a waste of time. It would saturate long befor you actualy got over the target. I would use the leading edge of the coil in detect mode and creep up to the target and locate that way instead, and with time can work well once you learn where to dig. I would also say one of the worst minelabs I have ever used.
