bootyhound is pretty accurate. I would add that it helps to be familiar with the standard 8" or 10" coil. Because once you go to the WOT, the extra depth and coverage comes with a few drawbacks: very fishy to use, harder to pinpoint and just generally kinda "squirrely". Not a problem on the wide open beach, but would be difficult in trashy land sites. So as long as you're already very familiar with the regular coils on the Sov (the nuances of the tones, sounds, swing speed, target responses, etc...) then you can move up to the WOT with a little more ease.
For the persons who've taken the time to get used to it, I've seen some amazing depths. 15" on a penny, etc.... if you've got an area that will allow you to use it.
