Minelab XT18000

Bought a used XT18000 last year for nugget detecting (only Minelab I could afford) and was wondering if anyone has any feedback about this detector. I know it's an older machine, and a pre-runner of the Eureka, but it seems to work pretty well still. I'm just hoping I can find a little gold to move up to a better gold machine.

Well, no responses frm anyone. Guess the old XT18000 is just too old to discuss here. Thanks anyway. I was just looking for a few good words about it.

Not too old, and still a good machine! Although, I favor the 4000! I will not part w/ mine! I would part with the MXT before the 18000.
I know what I'm comfortable using. Wish some one (American) would be able to compete against the Aussy for finer product, but don't see it happening soon.

Sorry about the lack of response; gold hunting is in a minority around these parts as it does take a lot of dedication and work!

I own a GPX-4000 but have decided to sell due to it only occupying space in my basement! I'm not familiar with the 18000 at all but will add most detectors will and should find surface gold. The GPX-4000 will make a miner out of you however; extreme depth for a hand-held!

Hey Bananas, the 18000 is a great machine the 60klhz is good for small gold I found a lot of gold with mine. I used mine mainly for going over heaps in the old diggings using all three frequencies going over the heaps three times using the lowest frequency 6.4 for deep larger nuggets, then the middle 20 for the smaller shallower gold and the 60 for the tiny shallow stuff. The 6.4 was good for detecting coins in parks whilst the machine doesnt have a great discrimination set up using the iron reject setting helps get rid of nuisance iron items. well good hunting you have a good machine thats for sure, the picture the gold was nearly all found with my 18000 seeya Neilo
