What is this thing??

My wife had the idea that, if this IS Aztec in origin, then the thing on it's head may be some type of animal.
Aztecs in Mx are commonly shown with jaguars on their heads......

There is a stone God on Mesa Ridge overlooking Garden Valley. Archeologiests believe the Hohokum people made it, or so Im told.
So......Im throwing the Hohokum in the ring as a possibility to who may have created this head. So far we have:
Aztec
Apache
Hohokum
Spanish
Mexican
Ranchers
Thunters
Thats my list so far..... anyone want to add to or eliminate from it, please do

IMO, Aztecs and Hohokam are the same people.

Idk, that one looks strange. But I see a possible pointer under it, pointing the same general direction. The “pointer “ looks like it might have one of those stone seats to look from. It is hard to tell from the pic. Last thought, someone (maybe Sandy1 I’m not sure) anyway they spoke of a way to sight from an ear? That ear does look like it has a v, IMHO.
