It wouldn't hold enough liquid to do much. Could be a travel size for pills. Not fancy enough for perfume.

Could also be a sample bottle for a variety of things.

The top of the bottle looks like it was sealed with a cork. There is no seam running up and down the length of the bottle. The bottom of the bottle is indented.
My questions are:
A. Is this a handblown bottle?
B. How old do you think this bottle is.
C. Do you think this bottle was for medicinal use? (pills, iodine, etc.)

I have one that is similar .It was used to hold Mercurochrome I included 2 pictures I actually have two other one that are similar to the pictures but not exactly the same002.webp003.webp

Nice little bottle. It's hand blown into a two-piece mold. There are mold lines (seams) on opposite corners, disappearing at the base of the neck where the lip was tooled. Mercurochrome never stung me, but iodine or merthiolate was a different story!

Fool, that's quite a jewel, with the cork and applicator.

Yes The younger generation never had the pleasure of Mercurochrome or the others mention. If I remember they worked but they are all no longer made.I am really lucky to have found the one with the complete applicator .The cork is in great shape .I have one with the cork and glass applicator but the top is missing and another that is just the bottle . All three are probably not worth $3 but I think they are a nice set . However I am not sure any of the ones I have are as old as the one against the wind found and the shape of the outside rim is a little different

Yep, what 'Chip said. Blown in a mould, tooled top, probably 1890-1915, somewhere in that date range. It could have contained a number of things, but some sort of medicine/pill is a good bet.

Thank you, glass half fool,,
I haven't heard the word "Mercurochrome" in a long time. I believe it was applied to cuts and scratches. Boy, did that stuff sting.

No, Mercurochrome doesn't sting. You are thinking of Merthiolate.

Looks like a bottle that had paint in it. I’ve found several of this size and shape that usually had gold paint in it. Just a though tho. Jgas.
