Well at first I thought I had possibly found something rare and maybee even valuable lol but from what I have read on the web, boy was I wrong lol!! I think it's one of those micro replica coins that originally had some kind of a cheap gold(ish) plating on it but has completely worn off to show it's true copper base metal! Before yesterday I had never seen one like this! It'll make you go blind trying to look at it with the naked eye!! On a different note however I did score a really cool German chart reading magnification device at a yard sale last weekend which came in handy!! It's an auswerte- lupe 12x magnifier! It makes looking at small items a breeze and I can also take pretty clear photos of the magnified objects!! Thanks for looking everyone!! Get out there and find it!!!!

I think we all know how that would feel looking at that coin for the first time. For me, the excitement starts with the find, a touch of history and then, could it be? GOLD? Man, what a feeling! I bet the letdown wasn't all that bad after a little time. I am laughing with you, not at you. It still is a neat token and a centerpiece of conversation from here on out. That, in itself, is just as precious as gold to me. Great find on that magnifier, wished I had one! HH to you my friend!

Congrats on your find.Even being a replica its a cool looking coin.HH

Heck with the coin..........That Schneider Luftwaffe WWII flight map reading loupe is magnificent.

It really is awesome!! I love it! I was using it yesterday to read some old nautical paper charts I've had for a while but never really studied untill now!! I only wish it came with a tiny led light under it but a small maglite works fine! It really shows all the imperfections on coins that to the naked eye look perfect! QUESTION--- how is it legal to make a reproduction coin like this (small or not) without the word copy on it? Looks to be new enough to be after the "copy" law went into effect--

I don't see where it even slightly mimics a U.S. coin so it may not fall under the Copy act.

If the Copy act was for all round coin like objects, Tokens would need to say copy also.

anyway Cool Find . Was probably part of something else,
game, toy cash register, jewelry or :dontknow:

Your "fake" coin is really really cool! :occasion18::blob3::occasion18: And I had no idea such wonderful magnifiers existed. I make do with hand-held magnifiers & my very near-sighted old eyes which allow me to see tiny things close-up better than the average eye, lol. I think everyone on t-net who sees your superior magnifier will want it! If this were a site where people sold stuff competitively, we'd already have a bidding war on it! :tongue3: :laughing7: Looking forward to seeing your next finds! Andi

That's a great magnifier! I need one of those.
Still a nice find, not a lot of the tiny replicas found.

Aren't they allowed to make replica coins with out copy on it if it is not near the same size as the real coin? They have those giant nickels.

neat find thow,I would like to have that tool you are using
