Relic Hunting
Had a good two days week-end hunt with a nice variety of coins and relics. After 5 years of detecting, found my personal bucket lister. Despite lacking any monetary or historical value, this relic was pretty high on my list.

Anthropomorphic clay pipe bowl from mid 1800's

Found a good mix of early coins.

Almost mint Civil War period 2 cents 1864 (meant to say Civil War period in the title of the post as well, sorry for the confusion)

It's my second 2 cents coin in as many weeks. When I compared the two after getting home, had a pleasant surprise. One of them has 180 degrees rotation error being struct as a ''medal'',not a coin.

My second American was way younger but again in a great conservation state. 1891 Liberty Head or ''V'' nickel.

An other first, VICTORIA NOBIS EST 1811-1813 Halfpenny

20190816_161049.webp20190816_161042.webp

Lower Canada 1837 Halfpenny in an OK shape

And 1782 Hibernia Halfpenny (at first it looked like the coin was used as a button, but I believe those marks could be from a bird shot)

A couple of other coins, eight in all

Did find a few nice military relics

An other plate from 1830's-1850's ( first one for me of this type)

Two more V buttons

Again 1830's-1850's 1st Regiment of Volunteer Militia

20190818_181551.webp

Victorian PR button (provincial rifles?)

An other decorative military chain

And one that looks more solid and functional (maybe was attached to a sabre/sword?)

20190817_101255.webp

Mysterious C.H. plate

20190818_095025.webp

Early medicine bottle

And my detecting buddy. As you can notice, he was wearing the same style of gloves as I did.

Thanks for the comments.

Once again, killer bunch of show and tell.could the smaller chain been from a shako hat? Looks very similar if you google it.

Unbelievable hunt, that 2 cent piece is in better shape than the ones that I've bought for my personal collection!

I believe they were made of brass, that might explain the better condition than most of the coppers I find.

You really get the good stuff. Super looking coins.

Thanks for sharing.

Holy crap what a hunt! I cant get over the condition of it all! Great post as well. Your collection must be INSANE!!!

Awesome hunt as always, nice mix of coins & the V & 2c are two of the nicest I've seen, the pipe is a amazing treasure, congratulations on all the saves & great photos

Thanks Inspector

Nice digs!! I'm thinking those chains could also be curb chains for a horse bit :dontknow:

Thanks civilman1. I'm not sure the chain is strong enough for the horse, but maybe.

You might be right, looks very similar. Thanks!

Very nice, I love that provincial rifles button, great job

Thanks Joe-Dirt. It's the 4th one I pull from the ground. Wish I could find some info on them.

My word would you look at the shape of those coins great saves buddy!!! HH & GL

Extremely nice finds!

Very impressive post! I live on a pond, so the sun turtle might be my fav pic- great job on the coins- that 2-center is perfect!

Thanks JeffInMass. It's a first time I see this type of turtle, at first thought it was a tiny snapper.

Those finds are incredible and got to love that pipe bowl.

Oh yes. That pipe is one of my favorite finds this year. Again, not valuable or historically significant, but something I always wanted to find.
