I went with my mom and son to the park and decided to bring the detector. Thought maybe I'd find something. I searched for about 45 minutes over some old hotspots I had previously hit. Nothing. Had a pouch full of vodka bottles, nutra-slim can, Poland Spring bottles, plastic bags, and nada else.

Got ready to go and my 1 1/2 year old boy wandered over to a spot I'd previously pulled a 40-something Merc. Went over and scanned and BOOM!

It read 12-46/47 at 6". Went down 6", then 8", the 10"...nothing. Thought hmmmm.... Rescanned and 12-48, 01-48....Then I knew it was goin to be good. I gingerly moved another inch or two of dirt and saw the rim. Sideways and edge-up.

At that point I called my mom over and had my son look in the hole. He saw it and grabbed that sucker! Dropped it and I saw the eagle.

Barber 1/2 Dollar minted in the great year of 1903 in San Francisco.

I'm especially stoked since my mom was there and my son pulled his first silver from the ground. Funny part was he did not give it up. He ran off!!!!

Lol. Happy hunting and just when you think you don't want to detect your local park again, go do it. View attachment 1155892
