I'm going to bow out of this one...

It seems that nobody can ever get close on a date for the religious medals as they were made by so many for so long - and are still made today. There must be six or seven zillion styles...

I hope some one can help! :)

Nice find!

This medal is known as the Miraculous Medal for St. Catherine Labouré. It cannot be older than 1830 which is when the apparition is said to have occured. Your medal could be French Canadian. It looks old!

The words on the medal are (1st picture): "O Marie conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous". This translates to: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you."

The other side may read (hard to see 2nd picture): "Souvenir de la mission"

Below is a picture of another version.

HH!

I'm not an expert but I would say, that this medal was made pass 1900, because of the way that was made.
It was simply cut out of a tiny cooper plate.

Here you have a Polish version of this medal.

OK you guys are all on the money on what is, i would guess it would date to around 1890-1900
cause my grandmother had one on her rosary, she got that when she was 6 years old. she was born in 1895
she used it every day until she passed on. an the large m on the back with the cross stands for the missionary
marynolls, who came to each church to get money for their missions.
great find,

I found the same medal as Moe, but in English. It says "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." 1830.
