I returned to the scene of the crime today where I found the 1946 GW Quarter with a bullet hole. The ground is still soft but it’s getting colder now. Continuing where I left off I sampled new areas and came up with a good cross section of finds.

I hit 2 coin spills, one of which was quite curious. Both quarters and the dime were clad but so clean they looked like silver. Right in the spill was a 1942 Wheat Cent that looked like it was dropped yesterday! All 4 coins were on the surface under a thick layer of leaves.

Other notable finds were an ox shoe at the base of a large boulder, pocket knife, telephone receiver part, brass tag, and some other ‘stuff’. Best of all was an ornate brass object that looks like it was from the leg of a tripod maybe or a pole topper? There is still wood inside of it and I’m guessing 19th century or earlier. Any thoughts?

Thanks for Looking!
Nick

Your Wheel-horse model is a lawn mower from the 1970's. I googled the model. No idea what that thing with the wood in it is. Could it have had a metal spike in the end to stab trash? My only thought.

The part you think is a telephone part probably is. I used to unscrew the ends and that looks like the speaker.

Gently used receiver (speaker) for G-style handset. Price includes shipping to all 50 states.

Nice finds.
Thanks for the ID on the lawn mower and the phone speaker, ScubaDetector! I posted the brass thing on the What Is It? section of this forum for additional help:http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/529605-need-help-id-ornate-brass-mystery-something.html
