Monday Evening Hunt

[The Grim Reaper]

We had some really heavy rains move through yesterday afternoon so I got hold of a buddy and we hit one of our favorite sites that has a Ft Ancient village on one ridge and an Archaic spot on another. The FA site didn't give us much, I only found one small Triangle, a broken base off a Triangle, and a piece of Deer Antler and he didn't find a thing. The Archaic ridge was better to us though.

He found 2 nice Hafted Scrapers and a few Scrapers. I found 3 Points, a nice little round based Knife, 2 Hafted Scrapers, a nice Scraper/Knife combo Tool, a crude Flint Celt, a Flint Hammerstone, and a very interesting piece of pecked and ground stone that I believe is a Plummet preform. It's a piece of green Granite and would have been very nice if finished. I also found 3 bases to Points.

I got a few nice in situs but I didn't get any pics of his finds.

That green granite is spectacular, I've never seen material like it. Thanks for sharing that in particular.

Very nice finds, Steve! Like 1320 mentioned, I love the green granite piece, as well.

It reminds me of the material I found on my broken adze...



I found mine on the other side of the Ohio River though (KY).
