Although I can see the resemblence, the star pattern continues, unbroken, all the way around. On a seated coin, the stars stop at the bottom for the date. If its a coin, I'm pretty sure its not US.

Nice finds and congrats on the silver Reddie! The sign may be from a horse rest or some other kind of rest place, I doubt it was a place to rest your buns and have a good crap, LOL! HH, Mike

You obviously have the end of the plate. The word "Rest" is capitalized so it was the last word in whatever the front half may have said. Maybe something like "Please Rest" if it was on a bench or something like that. Maybe the front half is still out in that area. Nice Merc as well.

I believe the Plate is From a Coffin & said "At Rest"
Probably Victorian & Silver Plate.
