DAY 1
I went to the park at the pool that has a tot lot, a couple of ballfields and a pavilion. I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 covering part of the tot lot, a short walk on the ballfield and the entrance to the pool. I found 66 coins with a face value of $6.85, a number tag, an unusual wing nut, a ring, a wheatie, a token, a bullet, a cord end, an aluminum container, a CAT key, can slaw, aluminum bottle caps, 27 tabs and 1 pencil end.
The best find was a nice little silver ring. It is a snake ring and my wife likes it. My daughter has a collection of snake rings so we will see who or fits. It is a little bent and will need a little work, but it is a cool ring.
The next best find was an aluminum token. It is crusty from the acid soil (always hard on old aluminum). It is an AMVETS token from 1961. It is dated and has a picture of a Mercury space capsule with the date and FREEDOM 7 on one side and the Pledge of Allegiance on the other. I found them for sale on line they are priced anywhere from $2 to $115. Crazy what some people try to get selling stuff on line.
The aluminum container is an interesting find. It was pretty messed up by the acid soil so it took a little scrubbing to get a clear picture of the writing on the container. It says UNITED SEAL CO. COL. O PAT. JAN. 8’35 on one side and P E CO on the other. The United States Seal Company of Columbus Ohio manufactured security seal frequently used by utility companies. The PE CO is the Potomac Edison Company, the local electrical supplier for our area. So the box contained security seals for the electric company. It was found near a utility pole so that makes sense.
The number tag is different. It has writing on it and looks like someone used a piece of aluminum from an engraved contained and hand stamped the number 10 and punched a hole to hang it. The crustyness of the aluminum makes it hard to read so I can’t see what container was used for the tag.
DAY 2
I went back to the basketball court where I have been having luck finding gas money and a few minor goodies.
I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 122 coins (84 pennies) with a face value of $5.29, a watch back, a Canadian penny, a game tab, a piece of jewelry, a brass whatzit, an old pocket watch frame, aluminum bottle caps, a little can slaw, a little foil and 26 tabs.
Nothing great, but lots of digging. The Canadian penny is a 1960. The game tab is from a Pepsi game and is the letter P. The jewelry is a small flower pendant or charm made of cheapie metal.
DAY 3
I went to a little used swimming area in a lake to the west. I spent 6 hours swingin the ATPro and covered most of the detectable water. I didn’t find as much as I have in the past but I didn’t get skunked. I found 12 coins with a face value of $0.95, jewelry, a fishing lure,the end of a .22 cartridge, 2 tabs, sinkers, a pellet gun pellet, a toy truck and of course foil.
Only one goodie in the bunch of jewelry. The small tree or leaf pattern earring is marked 925. The stones are tiny and I thought they might be diamonds, but no luck. At least I got a silver.
NON DETECTOR FINDS
Nothing from the coinstar and nothing spotted on our walks around town. I did spot a friendly little toad detecting by the basketball court.
While I was putting my gear away a cool butterfly landed on the blacktop and sat still for a picture.
Another fun week swingin in the fresh air with enough to keep me interested and happy. Nothing fantastic, but you can’t get the great ones every trip out. Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.
