Hello again everyone. I know it's Saturday, Memorial Day Weekend, but this post is for this past Thursday's finds. I would have posted sooner, but three quarters through my original post Thursday night I inadvertantly hit a misskey or something and lost the whole thing. Yes, that's agrivating to the extreme normally, exasperating when you're on a mostly unfamiliar laptop. I would have, normally, began again and completed the post, however, it was going on 1:00 AM and I had a 10 to 12 hour drive to make the next day, so.. here I am two days later making the post.
NOW, that said, let's see if it's even worth your while to read.. or my while to make the silly post.
Thursday morning dawned bright and sunny, again, at the beach where my wife Val and I are (were) vacationing this week. The steady rythmic whisper of the surf lapping at the sand, the cries of the seagulls and chirps of the shore birds as they began searching or begging for food. There were shrieks of joy and laughter from both children and adults... won't even begin to imagine what the adults were shrieking about <wink>. Oh.. and the popping and grinding of old tired joints of my back, hips, knees, ankles and toes as I padded down the hallway to the balcony overlooking the beach. And I was gasping with each step too. It seems that the couple of miles of trudging through the sand the night before had really done a numbe on my poor calf muscles. Ow Ow Ow Ow Ow...
After a nice leisurely breakfast with my darling wife, we decided to just be a couple of poolside potatoes today. Suiting up, we made our way to the pool and staked a claim on a couple of lounges in the sun. We oiled up of course, with sun screen, so that we wouldn't turn into walking bacon, like so many of the other tourists we were seeing.. OW OW OW OW! Don't need a sunburn! We bathed, in the sun, watched the crowd, read our books, sipped our drinks and sweated and cooked in that all too efficient roaster of a poolside paradise. Round about noon though, when the sun was hight and becoming merciless, I started hearing noises. Something about it being too hot, and wanting to go shopping, and being hungry. My wife agreed. <laughing> So it was back to the room to shower and change.
First things first, we stopped to get something to eat. A local eatery called Wild Wings. They serve other things, but their specialty is Chicken Wings. Any kind of flavor of Chicken Wing you can imagine! We had a sampler of five different flavors, mostly mild though, I'm a wimp. Can't take the hot stuff.. well other than my wife. <grin>
From dining to shopping. We took in a couple of the big tourist traps...er "destinations". You know, the big festival like conglomeration of novelty shops, specialty shops, fudgeries, ice cream parlors, tattoo parlors, jewelery boutiques and restaurants.. kind of like a boardwalk kind of deal. <shrug> We had as much fun watching the other people and interactions as we did actually shopping I think. And we met a lot of ... well.. different people.. enchanting one might even say. Like this fellow..
:
I don't know what he'd been doing or was doing, but he seemed a little ..well.. "stoned" to me. Maybe he had the munchies or something. I know for a FACT that these next guys were hungry though.
You ever had a fish eyeball you from a distance and start begging for something to eat? At least I HOPE that was what it was doing, I'd hate to think it was blowing me a kiss. <shudder>
:
... Oh.. he wasn't alone though..
And that picture only shows a "few" of the fish.. we were POSITIVELY MOBBED by all the carp.. not a dozen, not a couple of dozen.. HUNDREDS!!! You could WALK on them there were so many rolling and gaping and gulping at the surface. All begging for food that was sold from gumball style dispensers of fish food along the shore and walkways. There were so many fish that some of the other inhabitants of the lake were seemingly reluctant to even ben IN the water. Like these two feathered folk...
