I went and bought an MXT the other day. Then I went down to the inlaw's farm near Laurel MT and hit a few old sites on the property. It was a dissapointing few days of hunting. There is an old 1800s stagecoach stop on the property that I had high hopes for, as well the old school house and a few abandoned homesteads. The only coin I found was a 1975 penny. I did find a couple of brass (or copper) things that I was wondering if someone could identify:

The thing with threads on it is about the diameter of a quarter and says: E. ?. Atkins & Co. Indianapolis Ind. Pat. Dec. 27 1887.

The other things will have to go in another post due to pic size limitations.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Nope, can't be. The text would have to be backwards.

I thought about wax seal but ruled that out. It kind of reminds me of a knob or drawer pull but I just don't know. Thanks for the replies.

unclejesse67,

neat find.

"It was a dissapointing few days of hunting."

Give it time; get to know that machine; if you work
at it, the better finds will come.

Hope you find a bunch. :wink:

junkdigger;

If your interested in more info on that item, just Google: E. C. Atkins & Co. Indianapolis Ind.

You can even find a map showing where the company was located.
