Very true....

And they are still being remembered.

Not forgotten here :(

Think of my Dad every day and what he must have gone through fighting in the Pacific in WWII. He flew an F6F Hellcat off the USS Essex. Shot down three times by anti aircraft. Received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Citation, Numerous Silver and Bronze stars and was the most humble guy I've ever known.
Those guys were all heroes in my book!!

Awesome...You have great reason to be proud of your Dad...Yes, they were heroes each, and everyone....My Dad was also a pilot in the Army Air-corp...Those guys had big ones for sure...

Thanks gallileo. Big ones is right but the funny thing is he didn'e really think it was a big deal. Said he was just proud to serve. I have all his military records-every piece of paper from his initial enlistment to his discharge-and it's fascinating reading. Think that's the biggest treasure I'll ever find.
What did your Dad fly?
