Hi guys. Here is a monument to the early gold prospectors near where we are now.

It's nice to see these remembrance monuments for those who ventured. 1854 here would have been here nothing.

Any clue who put up the monument? I’m a Vice Humbug in E Clampus Vitus, our organization puts up historical plaques in mining regions.

Sorry mate, I saw your post earlier and had to go out.
This is at St Arnaud Victoria Australia.
I live in this area now.
St Arnaud is on the very western edge of our rich goldfields. Within just several kilometres west from here its like wasteland. Flat for hours of driving. Zero gold.
Here, at St Arnaud was some very rich areas and very rich mines.
Odd place. Driving back south along the Pyrenees Range Victoria either side of the narrow range was areas of rich, then poor, rich then poor. Its strangely unique in my mind after my 30 plus yrs detecting. There is nowhere near as rich as the centre of the Victorian Golden Triangle where I lived for yrs, Maryborough, Dunolly, Tarnagulla. But its always fascinated me this area.
Something about it.
So sorry if it seemed like a US place, I just take it for granted the guys I know, know where I am.
