Moon Flower and Hummingbird Moth

Please excuse the poor quality of these pictures as I am not set up for night photography. The Moon flower only blooms at night and the blooms only last until the next morning. The moth flies just like a hummingbird making it difficult to get a good shot. It might seem that the moth is stationary in the pictures but believe me it wasn't. It was constantly moving from one bloom to the next. Then it would fly off into the darkness only to reappear a few minutes later at a different area of the Moon flower.

Pics turned out quite well. I like the 3rd one - flower-only - the best. Very beautiful bloom!!

The first time I saw one of those moths was in Kentucky. I had to look it up on the net. Then a couple years later I saw one here in our garden. They are very unusual.

I am wrong on the moth. It is not what we call a hummingbird moth. They are much smaller. The moth in my pictures is actually a hawk or sphinx moth. More precisely, a five spotted hawk moth. The hummingbird moth is in the same family but it is smaller.
