this hawk has the steel inlay bit, telegraph wrapped handle and by the head, filed tally marks along the hawk head body.

a very nice specimen, good heft, well balanced
 

this hawk handle is fashioned from a sharps rifle barrel, octagon. the bowl is also from a rifle barrel, what looks to be a smaller caliber.

the hawk end has a 1889 Morgan silver dollar. the man said during the ghost dance, the belief was to take an item (money) highly coveted by the enemy to take thier "power"

Thanks for all the great pics. There are some amazing frames out there of specific point types. The Dalton and Hardin frames are really impressive. It takes time and lots of money to assemble collections like that. Far beyond any personal find collection you could put together. The “big boys” brought their best!
