More broken points from DC

Yeah yeah whats so exciting about broken points, right? But here in DC, where finding any native artifact is very difficult and requires an insane level of time and dedication? I am happy to find one, even broken, in DC. But I found 2 today. One I haven't been able to ID, but the other is a piscataway point I'm pretty sure. That other blade would have been a very nice rust colored quartzite blade. But, it was broken. I found both of these following what I believe to be Hunter gatherer trails, and came away with 2 broken points from the district ultimately.

I am pleased to report that I will investigate this new found lead. I believe the trail may extend further, and intend to do more in depth research and another scouting trip really soon again...

That’s orthoquartzite. It’s knappable. The other kind is called metaquartzite. Orthoquartzite fractures through the grains. Meta fractures around the grains and is not knappable. Ortho is rare here in the Midwest. Hixton in WI and Tallahatta in the south are the most common. In the west, Spanish Diggings is the ortho used there. Neat finds! Keep up the hunt!
