Here are some more pics of some iron pieces I found at our colonial site. Not sure if anyone else is interested, but after cleaning these and seeing how good they come out, I'm going to have to start digging iron signals I usually pass over! Just really cool something that old made of iron could survive being in the ground that long! Thanks for looking and HH!

Imagine all the people that handled that stuff - nice finds Darby.

Thanks y'all! I used a battery charger for electrolysis over night, then naval jelly and wire wheel but not on delicate pieces. I used soft wire brush for final cleaning on those. And yes, if they could only talk...!

Well thanks for posting them and nice job saving them from being lost forever

Dig until your arm falls off

i like that Iron shoe buckle.

I have noticed that wire wheeling an iron artifact will "clean" it in such a way that the flash rusting that occurs following ACV treatments doesn't seem to happen. Anyone know why this is? Just curious.

Here's a couple more buckles I finished today. Also, a cool silver plated button I found today. Cleaned it with some aluminum jelly and was surprised to see how much silver plating remained!

Thanks Jdsly. Hope y'all are having a great time! That silver plated button came from the kettle spot. They are cutting timber closer to cd road...New spots coming!

Like Steve said, I like the iron shoe buckle frame, and would have cleaned that one too.
I find very few shoe buckle parts, and not a complete one yet, high on my top ten list.
Good job.

Thanks Rick. I like it too! Here is a pic of the other one from same site ( posted in my earlier thread). Thanks for looking.
