The construction crew finally removed the sidewalks from the other side of the street. They did the first phase a couple weeks ago. That section now has a new sidewalk.
All the coins were from before 1900. The only silver I found was a stinking 1917 Mercury dime. (Now don't get me wrong. Mercury dimes are good to find except when all the other coins are from the 1890's and earlier). This dime was probably lost the last time they worked on the sidewalks.
My detecting buddy found the only "good" silver. An 1876 Seated quarter.
My take from this site was:
1- unidentifed token.
1-two cent piece - 1865.
3 Shield nickels - 1867, 1868, and 1872.
1 Liberty nickel - 1887.
12 - Indianhead cents. 1862 (copper nickel), 1883, 1884, 1886, 1887, 1894, 3-1895's, 2-1896's, and the newest coin (except for the Mercury dime). 1897.

Gotta admit I sure like Indian head cents. They make me drool every time I see one (or 12).

Best of luck on hittin some of that older silver. HH!
