Hit the shoreline where I had the hunt of a life time last month. Nabbed 3 more Rev War buttons! I thought there would be alot more, but I'm happy with them. 2 Royal Provincials coat buttons and a Royal Fencible Americans cuff button. Also dug half a dozen musketballs and some mystery items that I havent cleaned up yet. My hunting buddy got a nice plain pewter button and a shoe buckle.
I also accidentally dug this shoe from in the clay while I was retrieving another target. Any idea on age?
Wouldn't it be cool if it was colonial?!!
Thanks for looking!

Thanks!

Very nice buttons do you think it was a battle site or a camp or a landing? I wonder what was going on there? No idea on the shoe.

Due to lack of stitching, it could indeed be a colonial period shoe. Finding them is not unheard of. Do a google search on preservation. For now DO NOT let it dry out. It may crumble to dust.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I'm not entirely sure. When I researched the area (for the past 6 years), I came to the conclusion that it was a settlement of loyalists, but I'm beginning to think there is more to the story. I'll be hitting the library again this winter to figure it all out.

I have it sealed in a zip lock bag to retain moisture. I'll look it up and find out the proper way to preserve it. If I can find out for sure if its colonial, I'll donate it to the local museum
