Dang, sorry ducky I did slack off on that and details.
The thing on the Yukon is called a "raft" I noticed a few of you couldn't figure that out
It wouldn't do well catching rain ad it is a " self -bailer"
We have been planning this trip for six weeks or so with the intent of going down once or twice a week.
The boat owner works at the State Capital though and crap started flying around because of a recess coming up.
We all know how kids get before recess.
Then he goes and pulls a muscle in his arm like I've never seen.
Looked like someone took a bat to him though all the damage was internal.
Anyways we finally got to make our first scouting trip. Unfortunately the S.fork is on controlled flow now so we have to make it past certain rapids by a certain time.
So, we meet early...ready to hit chili bar park at 7:15 am ....and the damn gate is still closed so we had to carry a rigged boat and all the gear needed to push of that also has to get walked back in the truck.....where as if the gate was open you can back right up.
We were fully rigged and carrying the last support gear back to the Yukon when the dude in green comes over to tell us "gates open"....thanks BRO.
So, of we go we only stopped in thee spots actually skipped the main place I wanted to go and still obviously had an awesome day.
I sampled seven features for about nine pans worth of material.
Just trying to get an unbiased sample of what the exposed bedrock is holding.
There is a lot of FLUFF this year. It's going to take a good few flushing to move it on.
In many places contrary to everyone hoping that this year exposed a lot of new areas....it seems to have added a lot of over burden to spots...and a heck of a lot of driftwood.
Especially if you are down stream of any of the big burned areas.
Anyways got good gold for nine pans. Joe forgot his snuffer so he added a few specks and added to my buddies take. I'll be giving him my gold for the day too.
He owns and drove the boat. There will be much more of it going in my snuffer later.
