I think it is funny that they dropped the ¢ sign from the keyboard. Lots of people just type $.25 or 25 cents. The same with the degree sign. It is 40° out today and hopefully getting warmer except I have the flu.

So how do you find the ¢ sign and the ° sign?

Easy.

Make sure your numlock key is on. Hold down your Alt key. While holding it down press 0 1 6 2 and then let up on the alt key. The ¢ sign will appear on your screen.

For the ° sign hold the Alt key down and then press 0 1 7 6

Does anyone know what a computer and an air conditioner have in common?

Well, it started out interesting anyways!

When you want a ¢ sign on an android. Hold the $ key down. More choices will appear including the ¢ sign. It does on mine.

And NO phones like me. The feeling is mutual. I only have one because it is needed so my 6 sponges, err I mean daughters can contact me. They like to try to soak up my money.

Thats why I ditched windows 10 on my new laptop and loaded linux. No worries about spyware (windows 10) or virises.

Linux is based on Unix ... Unix is where rootkits originated. CLAM antivirus was designed for and is still used in Linux systems. I have removed nasties from Linux systems.

Sorry, but the "no viruses or spyware" isn't because Linux isn't vulnerable (just look at the once thought impenetrable Mac) but simply because if you want to affect the most people, you go where the most users are --- which is Windows.

Kinda like Willie Horton said. When they asked him why he robbed banks he replied: "That's where the money is."

Get a good antivirus, use it religiously. Stay away from the "free this and free that sites". Stay away from "Coupon printing software" which is almost always spyware.

Oh, and stay away from the porn sites which attract hackers like flies. Avoid Warez of any kind.

Viruses proliferate, not because they are everywhere but because we all want something for nothing.

Wow!! Are all urchins like thatl?? Our youngest son says "What if you are somewhere and your truck breaks down?" Most of the time, we are out of range for service....so a lot of good that cell phone does!!

LOL maybe I better explain. I ordered two 63cf tanks for her and the dive shop got them in. They put them on the floor with the other tanks for sale. We went in to check on my regulator so she thought. She was looking at the blue tanks and said how pretty they were. It was perfect. I said I am glad you like them because they are yours. She had no idea I bought them for her.

I also got her a BC that day. She needs a new regulator and a new wet suit and we are good to go. So yes I shocked her and made her happy! Now get your mind out of the gutter!!

Guess they have finally declared the zincs not even worth a symbol!

So if instead of touching the $ key you hold it for a moment on your android, an alternative few keys don't show up including the ¢ key? STRANGE.

And to add the tilde, type Alt 0241. I use that a lot on talkin to the family on other websites, but about the only word I can think of that the English dictionary lists as having a tilde is piñata. (you have to hold the Alt key down.)

Windows or Android?

With Android, when you hold down a key, you'll notice additional symbols appear above the key you are holding down. With the Google keyboard, go to the numbers and hold down the $ key. After about a second, a window will open just above it with as many as 6 or even 8 symbols or characters. Slide your finger to the ¢ sign and release.


In windoze , hold down the windows key and press r. When the box opens, type "charmap" without the quotes. You'll then get to see all the available characters with any font in windows.

Click on the symbol you want to use, then click the select button. Now click copy and paste the letter where you want it.

It's a droid. I touch the numbers key and a bunch of symbols pop up I can then touch the arrow keys, that will get me another 2 screens of symbols, none of which has a cent symbol. I'll try holding my finger on it see what happens...if you don't hear from me I probably accidently opened a worm hole to a black hole...send help. :sly:
