original log cabin of Morton Mortonson,an early descendant of John Morton,signer of the Declaration of Independance...was used as a ferry house during the revolution and in the creek behind it(not pictured) blue and black kyanite can be found

Hey Fyrfighter! I collected the black kyanite and got two pieces with a streak of blue. Wear rubber gloves in the creek. Last time I was there, there was evidence of someone digging a botttle dump in the creek bank. The bottles were old but not from the original cabin. From what I understand, the area was used for dumping at one time. By the way, we always knew it as the Morton Morton House. Nice pics!

yes the water is filthy and was strewn with a lot of litter thats why I didnt include photos of it.I have also heard it called the Morton Morton house

Morton Morton House is a different site, but nearby. Morton Homestead is along Rte 420 in Prospect Park. Morton Morton House (same family) is off Winona Drive in Norwood.
