How many keepers do you think you need to get before you find a barber? This is obviously a guess. But I have found multiple silver proofs(under 1 mil minted), tons of Walking libertys but never a barber. How many will I have to find before I get my haircut? Seems like people who are new to this have found em. I want my barber!
(I guess I am more venting)

At least one newbie reported recently finding one in their very first box! I'm hoping to find my first one this year myself. But if I don't and just keep having good luck with Walkers this year I won't be complaining. :)

I found my 1st after about??? 150 boxes 1897 pretty good shape. I still can't see how some one did'nt have a clue??? :tard: :tard:

If you want to find a Barber you need to do alot of CWR. I found 4 in CWR last year. Boxes are a crap shoot for Barbers.

I have done around 125 boxes or so, no barbers OR WL.

I have not found a Barber Half since the later 80s. I do a large volume of coins with over 2000
keepers a year. It's just the luck of the draw.

CRHed since around 2000-2001. Didn't do many boxes before, since 40%ers were only worth $0.55 each back then. It was just for fun and to fill my book. You wouldn't believe back then that one could find a lot of nice uncirculated issues. No one got boxes for them back then probably except for me so the coins didn't circulate much. Now the coins are all junk.

Anyhow, didn't get my first Barber until 2010. A worn 1901 in AG-03 condition. Then found my other one toward the end of last year 1900-S in EF condition. Just two in my time of CRHing. Funny to compare the 1901 & 1900-S next to each other. The difference in condition is so noticeable that they look like two different types of coins.

Patience young grasshopper. I have searched over $2,000,000 in halves with only one barber to my name.

Relax and enjoy the hobby

:dontknow: It's hard to say when a person wil find a barber. I was lucky to find 1 last summer. It was a 1908 ender with no mint mark & was pretty worn. It came in a box that was a grand slam (barber, wl, ben & 64 Kennedy). They were the only 4 silver coins in the box. I've gone thru some 500,000 halfs & still am waiting for my 1st 1970. Keep trying & it will come some day. That what I keep telling myself about the 1970.

Good Luck & HH

The half-dozen barber dimes I've found were from machine wrapped rolls.

Maybe I am the newb that found the Barber? I guess I was lucky as I have never held one before and actually went out to look it up before posting. Just went through my first case and found only one 40% and a 2008. We will see what happens tomarrow. Just keep brushing your hair so you don't get any of those 'dregs"..:) May my luck pass on to you.

Still looking for my first Barber as well. Every roll I open I am hoping to get one but as long as I still get 90% and 40% I will not complain. Three weeks we got our first 1970 which was sweet the only one in the box but what a nice find!

lol...$53K in halves searched since I started CRH in October 2010. I've never even considered finding one (so much so, that I didn't even include the category on my spreadsheet....lol). It would be a wonderful surprise - but nothing so far. To date, I've found 4 Walkers and 10 Franklins.

Over 1000 boxes of halves and 300 boxes of dimes and 0 Barbers.
