Mourning Dove here in Oregon

Here is a picture of a Mourning Dove outside our dining room window. Picture was taken yesterday.

Good pic, we are being 'invaded' by Asian doves, they are multiplying fast.

When I lived on the west coast, I remember there was an actual hunting season for Banded Doves or Pigeons? I don't think we have them on the East Coast. There is a Morning Dove season in most states but this was not for Morning Doves.

Doves used to leave the area for winter back in the 60's I thought, guess now they have decided to stay north and become bird feeder chatters!

Mourning doves are native to my part of the country and live here year around. There are many that do migrate eacyear however. I have a pair nesting in my oak tree right now. You should see their nests. It's just about 3 sticks and a tuft of grass. Makes you wonder how the chicks survive, but there are millions of them hatched each year. Monty
