Those of you that guessed ABC's show Extreme Makeover Home Edition, you are correct. Also, that is Ty in front of the bus. Extreme Makeover just did a house for a needy family in Rhode Island. I had the extreme pleasure of being part of it. I took time out of work and volunteered for 5 days (about 60 hours) at the site. I was in the arts tent making special theme related furniture. I got to work with most of the designers doing projects for them. They were all really nice and very down to earth. It was an unbelievable experience being part of something like this. The picture above was while we were waiting for the family to arrive. I was standing with the rest of the volunteers on the property line of the new house. Luckily, we had a nice sunny day when they came home. The temp. was in the 20's & 30's for the 5 days and it snowed one day. So the landscaping is not picture perfect either. While that picture above is nothing special to a lot of people, I saw many things that I'll never forget. The amount of effort, work, donations and coordination involved by countless people was unbelievable. To see a new and larger house built and totally finished where their old house stood in 5 days was amazing. However, the best thing was seeing the reaction of the family when they first saw the new house.
