I found this by an old rock cellar hole. Signal nearly blew my ears out. It looks like a brass Victorian coat hanger.

It looks like something that may have been attached to one of those old pieces of furniture that folks kept in their front foyer. A kind of combination coat rack/mirror/seat/muddy shoe bin. Here are some photos of what I am talking about. Some were very ornate.

Looks like a "Hall Tree" hook. That might be what SkySgt was thinking of.

The 'look/style' screams late 19th C to me. Reminds me of a hat/coat hook, clearly made to be sturdy & hold a relatively heavy coat (which points to an older type).
