With the year coming to an end i like to share a short hunt out in the muddy fields.
Close to a village and a road used since roman times finds span 2000 years. But not today. We hunted that field several times the last weeks and finds become scarce.
Other than the usual trash i got the smallest thimble i ever found.

Only two coins with a nice 1765 12 Heller making my day.

The award for the weirdest find goes to this heavy silver shining whatsit ringing in the 36 range.

And it took me not long to ID the last find of the day. The gas cylinder of a M1 Garand rifle.

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to You all!

Can almost always count on you coming up with silver Lu, but it's usually a coin. Could the silver "thingy" have been a game piece? Sorry I didn't see this before Christmas but Happy Sylvester! (Hope that's right, otherwise will seem weird) Good luck.

great relics Happy new year

Missed this post first time.

Nice to get a date & ID on the 1765 copper. Bet they are normally shot.

That silver thing has a crystalline structure and looks like broken off a bigger piece... :dontknow:
Sylvester is right.Thank You!

ID is often possible, date and details are very rare on these 1700s coppers. What i like most is that the coin is a local mint. These were minted in lower quantities and i'm happy to have one for the collection.

Indeed, we had a good year Mag. Managed to get out more often than usual and finds improved. Also having a buddy helping with research frees up time used for detecting.

Hey, I missed this post. Glad to see you got out! have you been able to identify the "silver nugget" by now?
