Thanks for all the replies to my 1 or 2 detectors question. (What a great forum) Maybe I need to clarify something. I dont plan to actually get into the water over a foot or so. Maybe only hunt saltwater once or twice a year. Most of my huntingn will probably be dirt and dry sand. Thanks again ,Ron

Post the price range, your planning on spending,on a single detector,A MINELAB SE,is around 1200,and a top of the line detector, for land, and beach, you can not get the electronics wet, around 700 the sovereign is a good minelab detector, this is like the Excalibur ,an can be used everywhere, again don't get wet,You will need to figure out what you want to spend, and what detector, maybe Minelab Garrett, Whites,or Bounty hunter,You will constantly get alot of different responses from all of us,until you decide what interest you,and then post your decision, and then we can give a better suggestion to you.Good luck,Ronald99

As an entry level (kinda) detector I suggest a used minelab sovereign. Thats what I got to start and it hasn't missed a beat they're tough so second hand one's are normally excellent! If you have more money get a new one-if you have the money get the explorer-I'm waiting on the used explorer II I bought. Again you have both used and new choices. For over all value a used explorer II or even XS can't really be beat.

All the detectors mentiond will do GREAT in parks and excellent on the beach and as long as you keep the control box dry they're fine for wading.

Sorry if this sounds minelab-centric it's just what I have experience with.

Have fun,
Salvager

Thanks for responses. I plan on spending about $1200.oo Mostly old house sites. Occasional trip to freshwater and saltwater beaches. Then, Who knows? Thanks again, Ron

Look at Kellyco website,The Minelab SE would be a great choice for you,and will give you many years of great detecting. They will give you alot of extras, and if you live outside of Florida, pay no tax,and the shipping is also free.Ronald99 ???
