Hello AnnMarie. About your Ace 250...
You said that is goes "nuts" around salt water. Hmmmmm.
Alls you need to do is to turn the sensitivity down to where it becomes stable...usually around half.
Look at the crackbadger videos on youtube. He uses (primarily) an Ace 250 on beaches all over the orient and in Florida.
So play with the unit and have fun.
