I found this musket ball mold and this other thing here at Fishdam Ford, near Carlisle, SC. Does anyone know what this is? 100_4713.webp100_4714.webp100_4715.webp100_4716.webp100_4717.webp100_4718.webp100_4719.webp

That other thing does look like it could be part of an old Ford. Sorry couldn't resist. Interesting peice. Is there wear present in the loop part? Congrats on the musket ball mold, I've been looking for one of those for years.

Not a clue....But neat finds for sure...HH

Thanks...there doesn't appear to be any more wear on the loop part than the rest of it. I had a few people tell me it looks like a harrow tooth but I can't find another like it anywhere online. I feel blessed to have found that musket ball mold. This was my first time out at a real historical site. I was using a cheapo metal detector my dad got for Christmas a few years back. I must say I am now hooked for life..I told the wifey I want a good detector for Christmas! Thanks for checking it out.

I have never found one of those. Cool old find.

Second piece used for furroughing, and as said by others, harrowing--generally many mounted in a row (s) and dragged behind mule or tractor. Purpose to break up soil in preparation for seeding and improved irrigation. I bet you can google and find an example-they have about everything else from the dictionary thereon.

It's an oldie no doubt, but clueless to what it is.Cool dig.............................

That mold should clean up real purty!
