Not sure found on beach walkway in sand near woods in cape may nj. Its old town whalers and coves for ships??

Is it lead? Does a magnet stick to it?

yes it is lead
thanks for the magnate test forgot all bout that. But did feel like lead to touch. Cape may is surrounded by water sand marsh. Good places for old ships to hide back in the day

Most old lead has a white Patina on ...jmho.................HH

I know this is solved.. but I just want to post this.
The white on lead is oxidation.
If the lead was in an environment of very little oxygen with low pH like is found in mud with alot of rotted plant material or under muck in a waterway or swamp like area there can be very little.
These are from a fort occupied from 1837-1839

All but the white Minie ball on the right came from the same area.
